Buddy Ryan: 'I think it will be close'

Stricken by cancer and putting off an operation until after the Ryan Bowl between his sons, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan and Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, venerable former NFL coach Buddy Ryan predicts a tightly-played contest.

"I think it will be close," Ryan told 105.3 The Fan in Dallas, per Sports Radio Interviews. "I hope as I said before nobody gets hurt and they can finish out the season and maybe it'll be the two teams in the Super Bowl. The main thing as I said I am looking forward to the game. I think it'll be a good game and it may go into overtime."

As for his health, Ryan said he's doing well. "I am hanging in there," Ryan said. "I am going to get operated on the 16th, so when I get back from the football game I'll have it [cancer] cut out. I hope we get it all." For more coverage of the NFL go to profootball.scout.com. Follow me on Twitter: @RavensInsider
