Eric Berry placed on IR

The Kansas City Chiefs officially placed safety Eric Berry on injured reserve and signed safety Reshard Langford. Berry tore his anterior cruciate ligament, a major blow to the Chiefs' defense because he's one of the top young players in the league at his position.

Langford (6-1, 213) has played in six games in two seasons with Kansas City, recording eight special teams tackles. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Philadelphia in 2009.

He started all 48 games at Vanderbilt, totaling 247 tackles, 11 interceptions and 19 pass deflections.

Berry (6-0, 211) has started 17 games with Kansas City, registering 126 tackles, two sacks and four interceptions since being drafted in the first round out of Tennessee.

The Chiefs signed fullback Shane Bannon and offensive lineman Butch Lewis to the practice squad, cutting tight end Kyle Nelson and offensive lineman Lucas Patterson from the practice squad
