Chiefs ink Brandon Flowers to extension

The Kansas City Chiefs have locked up veteran cornerback Brandon Flowers with a five-year, $50 million contract, according to a league source with knowledge of the situation. Flowers received $22 million in guaranteed money. A former second-round draft pick from Virginia Tech in his fourth NFL season, Flowers was drafted 35th overall in the 2008 NFL draft.

Flowers has 201 tackles for his career, 52 pass deflections and 10 interceptions. That includes an interception in the Chiefs' season-opener last week.
