Jamaal Charles tears ACL

Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro running back Jamaal Charles will be placed on injured reserve due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. Charles hurt his knee in a 48-3 loss to the Detroit Lions. Now, the Chiefs will be without the NFL's second leading rusher from a year ago.

They previously lost Pro Bowl safety Eric Berry for the year with a torn anterior cruciate ligament as well as tight end Tony Moeaki with the same injury.

"Injuries are part of the game," Chiefs coach Todd Haley told reporters today. "Sometimes through preparation, sometimes just through freak happenings, and we've seen a little of each."
