Dolphins tried out eight quarterbacks

The Miami Dolphins conducted an extensive search for a backup to quarterback Matt Moore in the wake of starter Chad Henne being shelved for the season with a separated shoulder, ultimately signing Sage Rosenfels.

Besides trying out Brodie Croyle and Trent Edwards earlier in the week, the Dolphins also auditioned Rosenfels and the following quarterbacks: former Indianapolis Colts backup Jim Sorgi, former Cleveland Browns and New York Jets quarterback Brett Ratliff, former Buffalo Bills quarterback J.P. Losman, former New York Jets quarterback Kellen Clemens and former Oakland Raiders and Cleveland Browns quarterback Charlie Frye.

They also held discussions with David Garrard and Jake Delhomme, but couldn't come to an agreement.

Now, the Dolphins have Moore as the starter, Rosenfels as his backup and rookie Pat Devlin on the practice squad.
