Jack Del Rio fired

Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver has finally pulled the plug on coach Jack Del Rio, firing him today, according to multiple reports confirmed by league sources. Del Rio was 3-8 this season. The interim coach will be defensive coordinator Mel Tucker. Del Rio compiled a 68-70 record, but hadn't had a winning season since the 2007 campaign.

He won one of three career playoff games. Now, the Jaguars are in the market for new head coach.

Del Rio had survived in previous years despite a series of losses, but now he's out. The Jaguars play the San Diego Chargers on Monday night.

A former linebackers coach and defensive coordinator with the Baltimore Ravens and the Carolina Panthers, respectively, the former NFL and USC linebacker could be in line for college head coaching openings.
