Donovan McNabb, Sage Rosenfels cut loose

Two veteran quarterbacks hit the NFL marketplace today after being released Thursday: Donovan McNabb and Sage Rosenfels. The Dolphins waived Rosenfels from the non-football illness list and will be subject to the waiver system. However, the Houston Texans have already filled their backup job with Jake Delhomme. A Chicago native, McNabb was cut by the Minnesota Vikings.

The Chicago Bears placed a waiver claim on Kyle Orton when he was released, but he went to the Kansas City Chiefs.

Now, it's a possibility that they could make a claim on McNabb since Jay Cutler is sidelined and he could back up Caleb Hanie.

The Bears currently have Josh McCown as their backup. For a team to claim McNabb, it would cost $1.5 million.

Rosenfels would also cost the remainder of his $1.5 million salary. Rosenfels' agent, Rick Smith, said that his client is healthy after being hospitalized with a blood infection during training camp with the New York Giants.
