Jake Long placed on IR

The Miami Dolphins placed Pro Bowl left offensive tackle Jake Long on injured reserve today due to a torn right biceps suffered against the New England Patriots. Long has also had issues with his back and knee this season. He has only missed two career games, including this regular-season finale . The Dolphins promoted running back Richard Medlin from the practice squad.

The 5-foot-11, 200 pounder was originally signed by the New England Patriots as a rookie free agent on Aug. 3 and was released at the end of training camp on Sept. 3.

Medlin attended Fayetteville State where as a senior in 2010, he played in 10 games and gained 772 yards on 144 carries.

As a junior, Medlin gained 667 yards on 164 carries with 10 touchdowns. He was named CIAA Special Teams Player of the Year as a sophomore in 2008 after returning two kickoffs for touchdowns.
