The well-respected, veteran coach replaces Steve Spagnuolo, who was fired after another disappointing season, a 2-14 campaign that triggered the departure of the coach and general manager Billy Devaney.
Fisher wrestled over the decision.
Eventually, he came to terms with Rams owner Stan Kroenke. It didn't hurt matters that Fisher's agent, Marvin Demoff, is the father of Rams executive Kevin Demoff.
Fisher didn't coach last season in the wake of being fired by the Titans.
Fisher coached the Titans/Oilers for 16 seasons, reaching one Super Bowl where the Titans lost to the Rams team that he now takes over.
So, it comes full circle in a way for Fisher.
