The Colts fired Caldwell despite him not having franchise quarterback Peyton Manning for the entire season following neck surgery.
The Colts weren't competitive this season, though.
With the addition of new general manager Ryan Grigson, it's likely the Colts just wanted to go in a completely new direction.
A press conference has been scheduled with owner Jim Irsay and Grigson later this afternoon.
Irsay fired executives Bill Polian and Chris Polian after the season.
Now, he's completely reshaping the Colts in terms of the coaching staff and the leadership of the front office.
The Colts have the top overall pick of the draft and are expected to select Stanford quarterback Andrew Luck.
