Jerome Simpson pleads guilty to felony

Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Jerome Simpson's thoughts should be consumed about his freedom, not his impending free agency. Simpson pleaded guilty to a felony drug charge today in Kentucky. The athletic wideout pleaded guilty to a single charge of prohibited acts involving controlled substances.

Before, he was charged with trafficking after being indicted on allegations that marijuana was delivered to his home last year.

Now, Simpson is facing up to three years probation, two months in jail with work release and 200 hours of community service. He'll be sentenced next month and can request a reduced sentence.

Simpson will likely be suspended by the NFL in addition to his legal punishment.

Obviously, Simpson's free agency prospects have taken a serious hit. Expect the Bengals to be his likely future employer once he takes care of his legal obligations.
