Josh Bellamy Q&A

Louisville wide receiver Josh Bellamy auditions for NFL scouts Thursday, and is expected to run some fast times. The St. Petersburg, Fla., native caught 24 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns last season. The speedy 6-foot, 205-pounder played junior college football at Butte Community College, the same school that produced Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

He also recorded 10 tackles and is regarded as a defensive prospect by some NFL teams.

As a junior, he caught 29 passes for 401 yards and tied for the team lead with five touchdowns as he averaged 13.8 yards per reception.

Committed to South Florida before he enrolled at Butte after not making his test score, Bellamy caught 80 passes for 1,307 yards and 17 touchdowns in two seasons of California junior college football.

He was also recruited by Iowa State. Scout caught up with the Louisville standout for the following interview:

Scout: How ready do you feel for the Pro Day?

Bellamy: "I feel really ready. I've been training since January. I've been working out in Tampa. I'll put up some good numbers. I don't want to say what." Scout: What do you want to show the NFL scouts? Bellamy: "I want to show them my versatility. I can play a lot of spots. I can stretch the field with my ability to run after the catch. I can play defensive back. I can play wide receiver. I'm a great special teams guy. Wherever they need me to play."

Scout: "What kind of person will the NFL get with you?

Bellamy: "As a person, I'm a very hard worker. I do whatever it takes to help my team win. I love to win. I jut want to help any way I can." Scout: How did you wind up at Butte?

Bellamy: "I was committed to South Florida, but I didn't make my test score. I ended up switching to wide receiver from running back. I had two good years there. We won the national championship."

Scout: Your numbers went down last season. Were you healthy?

Bellamy: "I pulled my hamstring off the bone in the first game of the season. I was injured a lot. I'm 100 percent now. I feel great."

Scout: Have you finished school yet?

Bellamy: "I've got another semester. I took this semester off to train. I can come back and finish school. I majored in Sports Administration. I'd like to coach high school or college when I'm done playing football."
Scout: Do you have a big family?

Bellamy: I've got a nice-sized family, nothing huge. I've got three siblings, two brothers and a sister.

"I'm a dad. I've got a boy who's four and a baby girl on the way. It's a big motivation for me. Hopefully, I can get in the NFL and stay in there."
