Buzz building for Ryan Davis

NFL interest is growing in Bethune-Cookman defensive end-outside linebacker Ryan Davis, a hybrid edge pass rusher. Among the teams interested in the rising prospect, according to NFL sources: the Jacksonville Jaguars, San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Rams, Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, Steelers, Arizona Cardinals and the New England Patriots.

Davis ran a 4.79 in the 40-yard dash at the Miami Pro Day.

The MEAC Defensive Player of the Year and All-American selection posted a 35-inch vertical leap, a 9-6 broad jump and weighed in at 259 pounds.

The Bethune-Cookman standout excelled in outside linebacker drills and is regarded as a potential 3-4 prospect after playing defensive end in college.

He also recorded 65 tackles, eight forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 17 quarterback hurries and a safety.

As a junior, Davis led Bethune-Cookman with 18 tackles for losses and 6 1/2 sacks.

A natural edge rusher with hybrid positional flexibility as a potential 4-3 defensive end or a 3-4 outside linebacker at 6-foot-3, 260 pounds, Davis has drawn solid marks from NFL scouts and is projected anywhere from the fourth round to the seventh round by draft analysts.
