Ochocinco restructures contract with Pats

New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has restructured his contract, lowering his base salary for next season from $3 million to $1 million, according to a league source.

Ochocinco, 34, will still have to compete to make the team again since the Patriots have signed Brandon Lloyd, Deion Branch, Donte' Stallworth and have Wes Welker back under the franchise tag.

The former Pro Bowl wide receiver caught just 15 passes for 276 yards and one touchdown last season as he started three games and played in 15 total.

For his career, Ochocinco has caught 766 passes for 11,059 yards and 67 touchdowns. He was drafted in 2001 by the Bengals and played in Cincinnati for 10 seasons before heading to the Pats last year.
