Bears give Lance Briggs a one-year extension

The Chicago Bears have given veteran linebacker Lance Briggs a one-year contract extension. He's now under contract through the 2014 season. Briggs led the Bears with 147 tackles last season, forcing two fumbles and intercepting one pass. Briggs has been named to the past seven Pro Bowls.

The previous contract Briggs signed was a six-year, $36 million pact four years ago.

Briggs was scheduled for $3.75 million and $6.25 million base salaries over the next two years.

The financial details of his extension haven't been disclosed yet.
