Raiders sign basketball player

The Oakland Raiders have signed basketball player Andre Hardy as a tight end prospect, the team announced.

Hardy played basketball at Cal State Fullerton for the past two seasons.

He hadn't played football since high school.

Hardy is a 6-foot-5, 244-pounder who had visited the San Francisco 49ers. He ran the 40-yard dash in 4.7 seconds at his recent workout.

He averaged seven points and 5.6 recounds for his career.

Hardy's father, Andre Hardy, played in the NFL as a replacement player for the 49ers during the 1987 strike.
