London Fletcher rejoins Redskins

Veteran linebacker London Fletcher has rejoined the Washington Redskins, he announced on his Twitter account. "Redskins fans your captain is back!" Fletcher wrote. Fletcher, 36, has been named to the Pro Bowl for three consecutive years, anchoring the Redskins' defense His five-year, $25 million contract expired after last season.

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan indicated during the NFL owners meetings that the team wanted Fletcher back.

"I've said this from Day One: London is a team leader, a great player," Shanahan said. "And we want him back. All I can say is we want him and there are conversations ongoing."

Fletcher, 36, is a 5-foot-10, 245-pounder who has 166 tackles, 1 1/2 sacks, three forced fumbles and two interceptions last season.

For his career, he has 1,546 tackles, 35 sacks, 18 interceptions and 17 forced fumbles.
