Bills cut CB Drayton Florence

The Buffalo Bills have cut veteran cornerback Drayton Florence, the team announced after a league source confirmed he was cut earlier this morning. Florence,31, was due a $4 million base salary this year and a $5 million base salary in 2013. He intercepted three passes last season with 50 tackles and one forced fumble.

"I want to thank Drayton for all he's done for our team during his three years in Buffalo," Bills general manager Buddy Nix said. "But we have some good, young talent at the cornerback position that has tremendous upside. They need to take as many of the reps at practice as they can to continue to develop that talent. Our defense has gone through a number of changes since the end of last season and we feel that it's necessary to give these young corners the opportunity to be in the lineup."

Florence played for the Bills for the past three seasons, intercepting seven passes.

For his career, he has 441 tackles, 17 interceptions and three forced fumbles.

Florence has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the San Diego Chargers.
