Jets sign son of Super Bowl-winning QB

The New York Jets have signed undrafted rookie quarterback Matt Simms, the son of former New York Giants Super Bowl-winning quarterback Phil Simms.

Matt Simms went undrafted out of the University of Tennessee and signed by the Jets following a successful tryout at their rookie minicamp.

His father, Phil, won Super Bowl XXI and Super Bowl XXV with the Giants. And his brother, Chris Simms, is also a former NFL quarterback who currently serves as a coaching assistant for the New England Patriots.

"I just want to keep playing football," Matt Simms told New York reporters. "It's as simple as that. I just want to keep playing the game that I've been playing since I was a child."

The Jets now have five quarterbacks on the roster: Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Greg McElroy, G.J. Kinne and Simms.

The team also signed sixth-round safety Josh Bush and offensive lineman Fredrick Koloto, cutting center Kris O'Dowd.
