Bills sign Vince Young to one-year contract

The Buffalo Bills have signed free agent quarterback Vince Young to a one-year, $2 million contract.

"We think adding Vince to our roster will create more competition for the backup quarterback position," Bills general manager Buddy Nix said in a statement. He brings with him some unique physical abilities that most are aware of and that will make the competition interesting. It's all about improving our team."

A two-time Pro Bowl selection who was a backup last year to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick, Young has passed for 8,964 yards and 46 touchdowns with 1,459 rushing yards and 12 touchdown runs. He holds a 31-19 career record as a starter.

The 6-foot-5, 232-pound University of Texas product was selected in the first-round, third overall, by Tennessee in 2006 and spent his first five NFL seasons with the Titans before signing with Philadelphia last year.
