Raiders ink Tyvon Branch to $28 million deal

The Oakland Raiders have hammered out a four-year, $28 million maximum value deal with franchise player Tyvon Branch,a league source confirmed. The deal includes a $5.6 million signing bonus. He'll make $16.1 million over two years.

The safety is due a total of $17.6 million in guaranteed money with Branch due to make at least $26.6 million and another $1.4 million if he triggers incentive clauses.

Branch had previously signed his franchise tender of $6.2 million.

The portion of guaranteed money is fairly high.

And Branch, 25, gets to be a free agent again in four years before his 30th birthday.

The Raiders had until Monday afternoon to negotiate a deal under NFL rules governing franchise players.

If no deal had been done by that deadline, then Branch would have had to play the entire season under the tag.

Branch recorded 109 tackles and an interception last season with one sack.

A former University of Connecticut standout, Branch has 337 career tackles, two interceptions, six sacks and three forced fumbles.
