Devin Thomas retires from NFL

Chicago Bears wide receiver Devin Thomas has retired after being signed to a one-year contract earlier this year. Thomas, 25, has caught 43 career passes for 482 yards and three touchdowns. A former second-round draft pick, Thomas has previous stints with the Washington Redskins, Carolina Panthers and the New York Giants.

"God has blessed me w achieving a childhood dream," Thomas wrote on his Twitter account. "I want to give back to my hometown and coach/mentor kids so they can reach their own. 1LUV He played collegiately at Michigan State.

Last year, he averaged 24.3 yards per kickoff return.

Three years ago, Thomas caught 25 passes for 325 yards and three touchdowns as he started 10 games.

Thomas was placed on the Bears' reserve/retired list.
