Successful surgery for Trent Richardson

Cleveland Browns rookie running back Trent Richardson had a successful surgery today on his left knee, according to coach Pat Shurmur.

Shurmur issued the following statement: "Trent Richardson underwent a successful routine arthroscopic procedure today on his left knee. It was performed by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, Fla. We anticipate that Trent will make a speedy recovery, and we are hopeful that he will be ready for our Week One game against Philadelphia."

Richardson is the Browns' top draft pick selected third overall out of Alabama, and he's been dealing with swelling in his left knee.

Richardson had arthroscopic surgery in February.BR> A Browns offense without Richardson could have trouble moving the football, but it appears he'll be back in time for the Eagles game.
