Dolphins announce signings

The Miami Dolphins made it official by announcing they signed linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Philip Wheeler. Ellerbe agreed to a five-year, $35 million deal with the Dolphins early Tuesday evening. Wheeler signed a five-year, $26 million contract.

"I want to welcome Dannell and Philip to the Miami Dolphins," said Dolphins general manager Jeff Ireland in a statement. "We are very excited to add these two players to our defense and to the South Florida community."

Ellerbe spent the previous four seasons with the Baltimore Ravens. He had a breakout 2012 campaign, recording 92 tackles and 4.5 sacks. Wheeler started 11 games with Oakland a year ago after spending his first four years with Indianapoli
