Kansas City Chiefs
2013 draft picks:
1st round (1), 3(63), 4(99), 5(134), 6(170, 204), 7(207)

It's been quite the roster makeover for new Kansas City head coach Andy Reid. The Chiefs have been ulta-aggressive in free agency and hold the top pick in the NFL Draft.

The Chiefs traded for San Francisco for backup quarterback Alex Smith. While he has never lived up to the billing of being the top overall pick it's not like Smith has played that poorly. Certainly Reid and his staff see something in him. If he can play like he did during his last two seasons with the 49ers then the Chiefs should be fine.

Kansas City also signed Chase Daniel to back up Smith. The Chiefs signed wide receiver Donnie Avery and Mardy Gilyard, tight end Anthony Fasano and offensive guard Geoff Schwartz. KC lost offensive tackle Eric Winston.

Defensively, the Chiefs lost former first round pick in defensive lineman Glenn Dorsey. He's now with the 49ers. On the flip side they had a few key free agent pickups like defensive lineman Mike Devito and cornrebacks Sean Smith and Dunta Robinson.

Draft Needs
1) Offensive Tackle
Kansas City has the top pick therefore could go in a number of different directions. First, they could sure up their offensive front and select who they deem as the top offensive tackle in the draft in Luke Joeckel or Eric Fisher. Maybe they go another route and pick a defensive tackle in Star Lotulelei or a defensive end/outside linebacker like Barkevious Mingo or Dion Jordan. Perhaps they trade out of the top spot to garner more draft selections? Whatever they decide to do they will draft a tackle.

2) Defensive End
The Chiefs could use another defensive end for their 3-4 scheme. They signed Mike DeVito, who's a quality player against the run. Drafting Lotulelei first overall over a tackle would work here. Remember, the Chiefs lost their second round pick. They used that to acquire Smith from San Francisco. There are not too many guys like him in this draft.

3) Linebacker
The Chiefs could use an outside rush linebacker and a middle linebacker. You know they will do their due diligence on the top end rush guys like Barkevious Mingo, Dion Jordan and Jarvis Jones. If KC elects to move down this is the position they could identify with their first pick, depending on their landing destination and trade partner. If not, there's a guy or two in the mid-to-late rounds they could grab like a Cornelius Washington, John Simon, Quanterris Smith, Corey Lemonier, etc.

Middle linebacker could be addressed later as well. It just depends on how long the Chiefs elect to wait.

4) Quarterback
Kansas City wants a franchise quarterback but they may have to wait. Smith could either prove himself or the Chiefs will hope to grab someone at some point in this draft. Certainly there is an outside shot they grab Geno Smith No. 1 overall. But that's doubtful as things stand now. They could trade out of this spot and draft a signal caller later on. But in a quarterback deficient draft how can KC possibly draft a franchise guy? And they also are missing their 2nd round pick so they obviously valued Smith better than what they could have drafted with that selection.

5) Wide Receiver
The Chiefs re-signed Bowe and brought in Avery and Gilyard. I could still see Kansas City drafting someone here, especially in the mid-rounds. It's a deep pool at this position.
