Senior Bowl - South Evals

Here are some South evaluations of some of their standouts from today's practice. Jaylen Watkins had a big day in the secondary.

Mike Davis (WR) Texas
Davis had a very solid day, although he did have a fumble during team. Other than that one turnover he impressed. Davis is very smooth, ran good routes and has good speed. He also showed good body control in the air. Davis checked in at 6-0 2/10, 193-pounds, 10 1/8 hand size, 32 arm length and 77 ¼ wing span.

Arthur Lynch (TE) Georgia
Lynch had a big day blocking, impressing in one on one drills against the linebackers. In a handful of reps he only lost one battle that I saw. He could slide his feet and keep the defenders at bay or simply steer them away from the quarterback. Lynch showed some good athleticism. He checked in at 6-4 4/10, 258-pounds, 10 1/8 hand size, 31 arm length and 75 7/8 wing span.

Jordan Matthews (WR) Vanderbilt
Matthews gets the nod as the top wide receiver of the day. He also made the catch of the day on a long route, where he laid out for the ball, making a diving grab. He has good size, has deceptive speed, and showed he can separate from these defensive backs. Matthews checked in at 6-2 ½, 209-pounds, 10 ½ hand size, 32 5/8 arm length, and 80 1/8 wing span.

Jerick McKinnon (RB) Georgia Southern
McKinnon stole the show at the end of practice in team. He busted off three long runs, showing better than average speed. He has patience, vision and the ability to make the hard cut and get up field. He was a big surprise for the South today. McKinnon checked in at 5-9, 209-pounds, 8 3/8 hand size, 29 ½ arm length and 71 wing span.

Morgan Moses (OT) Virginia
Moses had a good day. This is a big and pretty athletic offensive tackle prospect. He was anchoring the left side. He's got size and is long. Moses moves his feet well and shows the ability to stay in front of defenders. He can bend and move. Moses checked in at 6-6 1/8, 325-pounds, 9 ¾ hand size, 34 ¾ arm length and 83 7/8 wing span.

Chris Smith (DE) Arkansas
I thought Smith was good from start to finish. He's quick off the ball. While he's not the fastest edge rusher he does posses good speed around the corner to get to the quarterback. I also liked the way he played against the run. He can set the edge and hold the point of attack. Smith checked in at 6-1 1/8, 266-pounds, 9 5/8 hand size, 34 1/8 arm length and 82 ½ wing span.

Lorenzo Tailiaferro (RB) Coastal Carolina
Tailiaferro caught my attention early, as he was solid in the pass pro drills and really caught the ball well. He's not a shifty runner and more of a north-south guy. He's a little stiff but ran hard and is a bigger back. He checked in at 6-0 ¾, 231-pounds, 8 ½ hand size, 31 3/8 arm length and 75 5/8 wing span.

Jaylen Watkins (CB) Florida
You can make a case that Watkins was the star of the day for the South. He made plays all day long in one on ones, seven on seven and in team. I counted one interception, one caused fumble and at least five pass breakups in those three settings. Whether he was pressing or off, Watkins was in everyone's hip pocket. He wasn't perfect and did get beat on one deep route. Watkins checked in at 5-11 ¾, 194-pounds, 9 5/8 hand size, 30 5/8 arm length and 75 wing span.

Kyle Van Noy (OLB)
I thought he had a very good first half of practice. This is a versatile linebacker who can lineup at different spots and do different things. He good off the edge getting after the quarterback and caused some problems for running backs and tight ends in the one on ones. Van Noy checked in at 6-3 2/10, 244-pounds, 9 ½, 32 arm length, and 78 wing span.
