INDIANAPOLIS - One of the top tight ends on the 2014 NFL Draft board met with reporters Thursday afternoon at the Combine at Lucas Oil Stadium.
Eric Ebron, formerly of North Carolina, previewed his Saturday workout, upcoming interviews with NFL franchises and spoke to the strengths and weaknesses of his game.
Ebron updated his height and weight at 6-foot-4, 250 pounds and said while he hasn't had any team interviews yet, he'll begin that process tonight. He believed the Baltimore Ravens were one of those interviews.
Check out the HD video below, as well as a transcript of the interview, for even more from Ebron in Indianapolis.
On where he'd like to be drafted, either team or selection range ...
"I think the possibility of playing for any team is a great one ... It doesn't matter (where). It really doesn't matter. If you need me, if you need a tight end, I'm here on the draft board. I'll be there."
On if teams are asking a lot about his blocking ...
"They ask a lot. Every team wants a complete tight end, an all-purpose tight end, not one that can just run down the seam and catch passes. They want a guy that can block, too. I tell them I've been working hard on it, which I have, and that I'm not bad at it, which everyone thinks. But we'll see."
On if he can get off the press/jam at the line ...
"I think why teams don't press me is because they can't. I will not be pressed at the line of scrimmage. That's a prideful thing of mine. They'd be best to leave their cover guys back."
On who he patterns his game after ...
"Vernon Davis, because of the similarities - his speed, he's powerful, he's very strong at the line of scrimmage. I love everything about him."
On where he wants to play, weight-wise ...
"I played at 245 pounds. 250 is only five more pounds. This is where I want to stay. This is where I'm most comfortable. This is where I feel fast, powerful and high-purpose."
On if he's a candidate to be the first tight end taken...
"I don't know. There are a lot of great tight ends - Jace [Amaro], Austin Seferian-Jenkins, CJ [Fiedorowicz], Arthur Lynch, there are a lot of great tight ends. What makes me different is just who I am - my play, my style of play. But there are a lot of great other tight ends. I don't believe I'm the number one tight end because I've still got to do, but every person still has work to do. We'll just see on the draft board."
