Jace Amaro established an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision season-record for tight ends, gaining 1,352 yards receiving in 2013, topping the previous mark of 1,329 yards by James Casey of Rice in 2008…His 106 receptions as a junior were five shy of Casey's NCAA annual record of 111 from the 2008 season…

School Season-Record Chart…Amaro set the Tech annual record for tight ends and ranks third overall with 106 catches in 2013, topped by Michael Crabtree's Big Twelve annual mark of 134 catches in 2007 and Danny Amendola's 109 grabs in 2007. The trio are the only players in Red Raiders history to catch one hundred passes during a campaign…Also set the school tight end season-record and ranks second on the overall chart with 1,352 yards receiving in 2013, surpassed by Crabtree's 1,962 yards in 2007. The only other Tech player to gain 1,300 receiving yards in a season was Joel Filani in 2006… Amaro's 15 catches vs. Oklahoma State is a school and league record for tight ends and tied Robert Johnson (vs. Southern Methodist in 2006) and Crabtree (vs. Texas-El Paso in 2007) for second place on the school game-record list. The record-holder is Eric Ward, who pulled down sixteen tosses vs. Baylor in 2011.

INJURY REPORT
2012 Season…What was originally thought to be chest and rib contusions from the West Virginia game turned out to be a grade-three lacerated spleen. Amaro was rushed to the hospital and given over six pints of blood. The result was the slot receiver being forced to sit out the final six games on the regular season schedule. Amaro suffered the injury after taking a hit to the midsection during the win. Prior to the injury, Amaro caught five passes for a staggering 156 yards, including a 39-yard touchdown strike to put Texas Tech up 7-0 in the first quarter.

Amaro attended starred at Douglas MacArthur (San Antonio, Tex.) High School, where the Scout.com accorded him four-star status and rated him the fifth-best tight end in the country…Was limited to 429 yards and two touchdowns during an injury-shortened junior year, but as a senior, he hauled in 56 passes for 887 yards (15.84 ypc) and eleven touchdowns in 2010…Earned USA Today, Super Prep and Prep Star first-team All-American honors and was a member of Dave Campbell's Top 300…Added Super Prep Texas 120, All-State, All-Area and All-District 26-5A first-team accolades during his final prep season…Helped the basketball team to a state quarterfinals appearance.
