Jaguars Draft Preview

The Jags were active this off-season but still have big needs going into the NFL Draft.

Jacksonville Jaguars
2014 draft picks:
1st round (3), 2(39), 3(70), 4(105), 4(114), 5(144), 5(150), 5(159), 6(179), 6(205), 7(222)

There were not too many people that believed Jacksonville would win four games last season. Most felt that were the favorites to finish with the worst record in the league. But they were competitive and played surprisingly well for Gus Bradley, particularly in the second half of last season.

The Jaguars had a busy off-season and made several nice additions to their roster, especially on the defensive front. Gone though is running back Maurice Jones-Drew.

Team Needs
1. Quarterback
The Jags resigned quarterback Chad Henne but will look to draft their quarterback of the future. The question is at what point of the draft? They could go best available athlete and perhaps land a player like defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, outside linebacker Khalil Mack or wide receiver Sammy Watkins with the third overall selection. Then again, they could go QB at that spot and could very well get the signal caller they covet the most. If they choose to wait with the second pick, one of the quarterbacks could fall their way or perhaps they ultimately have someone else in mind like Zach Mettenberger, A.J. McCarron, Jimmy Garappolo, etc.

2. Offensive Line
The real need here is at guard. With 11 picks, don't be surprised if they take three, including another offensive tackle.

3. Running Back
Jacksonville needs to find a starting piece in this draft and there are an abundance of running backs in this draft class they can land anywhere from rounds two through six. Toby Gerhart was a nice addition in free agency.

4. Wide Receiver
This is a need because you don't know the future of Justin Blackmon. He's suspended indefinitely. Maybe Sammy Watkins is the answer early. If not, this is the deepest position of the 2014 draft.

5. Outside Linebacker
Drafting outside linebacker Khalil Mack would fill a need at this position and potentially give Bradley and his defense a force on the edge. To me, he's the likely guy they land with their first pick.
