Rams Draft Preview

The Rams were active this off-season but still have big needs going into the NFL Draft.

St. Louis Rams
2014 draft picks:
1st round (2), 1(13), 2(44), 3(75), 4(110), 5(153), 6(188), 6(214), 7(226), 7(241), 7(249), 7(250)

Here come the Rams. This is a franchise and team on the rise who won seven games last season and had an injured starting quarterback in Sam Bradford. They will give the Seahawks, 49ers and Cardinals all they can handle and could challenge this season for the NFC West, as long as they can keep Bradford healthy.

Amazingly, St. Louis is still reaping the rewards from the RG3 trade. They hold the Redskins first round pick, which is No. 2 overall. Their pick is No. 13. What a deal that has been for this organization. In all, the Rams have a dozen picks next week. They have a ton of ammunition and this is a team that is never afraid to move up and back in the draft.

Team Needs

1. Offensive Tackle
If there is one area of concern for this team it's the offensive line, more importantly the tackle position. The Rams will likely have the pick of the litter at No. 2 between Greg Robinson, Jake Matthews and Taylor Lewan, if they choose to go that route at that spot. I suspect that they are hoping Houston passes on Jadeveon Clowney. If that scenario happens the Rams could go tackle with the second pick in the first round. It certainly wouldn't surprise me. Either way they have to get a guy that can plug and play and protect Bradford. St. Louis must also pick up a guard, maybe two. This unit has to get better.

2. Safety
I could certainly see the Rams going tackle with their first pick and safety with their second. This position is probably the weakest link of a pretty good defense. HaHa Clinton-Dix or Calvin Pryor could be in play. The Rams could wait until the next round and land Deone Bucannon. He's a name to keep an eye on with St. Louis.

3. Wide Receiver
Could the Rams bypass an offensive tackle and grab wide receiver Sammy Watkins with their first pick? Could you imagine Watkins on that turf? It's a deep position and it sounds more likely that St. Louis will wait to draft a player or two at this position. They did sign Kenny Britt.

4. Quarterback
Do they go out and get a guy at some point in the top half of the draft?

Shaun Hill (QB)
Kenny Britt (WR)
Alex Carrington (DL)

Kellen Clemens (QB)
Mike McNeill (TE)
