Wes Welker became the NFL All-Time leader in receptions for an undrafted player last Sunday. The Denver Bronco receiver now has 854 career catches in the NFL.
Who did he surpass in the Bronco’s win over the Arizona Cardinals?
Welker passed former Bronco great Rod Smith who racked up 849 receptions in his 13 year career. Smith played for the Broncos from 1994 through 2006. He was an undrafted free agent from Missouri Southern State. Welker went undrafted in 2004 from Texas Tech. He previously played for San Diego, Miami and New England. The NFL All-Time receptions leader is 49ers Hall of Fame wideout Jerry Rice with 1,549. The active leader is Colts receiver Reggie Wayne with 1,036 receptions.
Welker can potentially eclipse 900 receptions by the end of the season. If he does, he will pass Mushin Muhammad, Jimmy Smith and Keenan McCardell.
