2015 NFL Mock Draft 10.0

Here's a look at my mock draft following the NFL Scouting Combine. There were a handful of changes.

It's about the quarterback and getting after the quarterback.

This NFL Draft has two potential franchise quarterbacks and a ton of players that are going to get paid to sack Jameis Winston, Marcus Mariota and everyone else.

Here's my Mock Draft 10.0 following the NFL Scouting Combine that ended yesterday. In this version, Mariota slides [a little] with pass rushers dominating the first half of the first round.

Of course Tampa Bay is on the clock and the Bucs are in desperate need of a quarterback and a pass rush. They can't pass on Winston.

This draft is dominated by underclassmen listed here.

Note: The Browns own the Bills first-round selection after Buffalo traded up with Cleveland last year to select wide receiver Sammy Watkins.

1
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Height: 6'4
Weight:231
Hometown: Bessemer, Ala.
College: Florida State
Class: 2014 SO
Position: QB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 8
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Lovie Smith
2014 Record: 2-14

ANALYSIS: Winston did well in his combine press conference. He showed both confidence and remorse with a point well made to the media - he wants to prove himself to all 32 NFL teams that he can be trusted to be the face of one NFL franchise. Then he threw the ball with precision the following day. Though still Winston has yet to meet with the Bucs and Titans he appears to be the odds on favorite to land in Tampa Bay with first overall pick.

2
Tennessee Titans

Height: 6'5
Weight:302
Hometown: Daytona Beach, Fla.
College: USC
Class: 2014 JR
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 1
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Ken Whisenhunt
2014 Record: 2-14

ANALYSIS: The Titans are going to be one of the true wild cards in this draft, as their choice will have a huge impact behind them. They could select a quarterback, pick their favorite pass rusher or trade down and out of the spot. There have been reports that they are happy and confident moving forward with QB Zach Mettenberger. If that is indeed true then the logical pick here is a defensive linemen. The top player at this position is USC's Leonard Williams.

RND 1
3
Jacksonville Jaguars

Player: Dante Fowler
Height: 6'3
Weight:261
Hometown: St. Petersburg, Fla.
College: Florida
Class: 2014 JR
Position: OLB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 3
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Gus Bradley
2014 Record: 3-13

ANALYSIS: To me, Fowler seems like the ideal fit for the Jaguars defense at the Leo position. This is a pass rushing defensive end on the open end and weak-side that is paid to get after the quarterback. Fowler did nothing but raise his draft stock with his performance at the NFL Combine. He's so versatile, fast and athletic.

RND 1
4
Oakland Raiders

Player: Amari Cooper
Height: 6'1
Weight:211
Hometown: Miami, Fla.
College: Alabama
Class: 2014 JR
Position: WR
Rating:
Overall Rank: 2
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Jack Del Rio
2014 Record: 3-13

ANALYSIS: I am having a hard time putting a wide receiver this high. I don't see a Calvin Johnson, A.J. Green or Julio Jones is this class. But I do love Amari Cooper and he ran better than I would have imagined in Indy with a 4.43 forty. He runs great routes and can be a physical and dynamic playmaker on the perimeter. Oakland needs a big play wide receiver and Cooper should be there at the No. 4 spot.

RND 1
5
Washington Redskins

Player: Shane Ray
Height: 6'3
Weight:245
Hometown: Kansas City, Mo.
College: Missouri
Class: 2014 JR
Position: DE
Rating:
Overall Rank: 13
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Jay Gruden
2014 Record: 3-13

ANALYSIS: Here's another team that could go in two different directions, addressing the offensive or defenisve front. The Redskins needs to protect RG3 better and would have their pick of tackles. I had Stanford's Andrus Peat penciled in at this spot a few times. But I have Washington addressing their pass rush by nabbing Missouri's Shane Ray here.

RND 1
6
New York Jets

Height: 6'4
Weight:222
Hometown: Honolulu, Hi.
College: Oregon
Class: 2014 JR
Position: QB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 7
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Todd Bowles
2014 Record: 4-12

ANALYSIS: Will Mariota really slide to this spot? If so what will the Jets do? They are a complete mess everywhere but if they could finally land their franchise quarterback here New York could address needs at receiver, offensive line and on the other side of the ball later on in the draft.

RND 1
7
Chicago Bears

Player: Vic Beasley
Height: 6'3
Weight:246
Hometown: Adairsville, Ga.
College: Clemson
Class: 2014 SR
Position: OLB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 10
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: John Fox
2014 Record: 5-11

ANALYSIS: John Fox could ultimately decide here between an inside anchor or an outside pass rusher in nose guard Danny Shelton and outside linebacker Vic Beasley. I am leaning toward the pass rusher, especially considering the production of Beasley at Clemson coupled with his outstanding performance at the Combine after putting on 15-pounds.

RND 1
8
Atlanta Falcons

Height: 6'5
Weight:235
Hometown: Fishers, Ind.
College: Nebraska
Class: 2014 JR
Position: DE
Rating:
Overall Rank: 16
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Dan Quinn
2014 Record: 6-10

ANALYSIS: New Atlanta head coach Dan Quinn has to address their defensive front and in this spot there are still some nice options but it all depends on what happens in front of the Falcons. In this mock scenario Randy Gregory is the call. He's freaky athletically but needs to bulk up. Gregory was only 235-pounds at the Combine. Still, it's a great start for this new staff in Atlanta.

RND 1
9
New York Giants

Player: Trae Waynes
Height: 6'1
Weight:182
Hometown: Kenosha, Wis.
Class: 2014 JR
Position: CB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 6
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Tom Coughlin
2014 Record: 6-10

ANALYSIS: The Giants could very easily go defensive front or offensive tackle. They could also land the draft's top cornerback in Trae Waynes. He solidified that distinction by running a 4.31 [forty] and performing very well in all the drills.

RND 1
10
St. Louis Rams

Height: 6'5
Weight:319
Hometown: Denison, Ia.
College: Iowa
Class: 2014 SR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 4
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Jeff Fisher
2014 Record: 6-10

ANALYSIS: The Rams could go for wide receiver here or perhaps a true offensive tackle like La'el Collins. But there's also Brandon Scherff, who could be this year's Zack Martin. Scherff may have more long term upside at guard but should have the versatility to play anywhere on the offensive line.

RND 1
11
Minnesota Vikings

Height: 6'4
Weight:305
Hometown: Baton Rouge, La.
College: LSU
Class: 2014 SR
Position: OG
Rating:
Overall Rank: 18
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Mike Zimmer
2014 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: I have had Waynes to the Vikings for the longest time but he's now gone. Now in this spot I could see Minnesota going wide receiver (Devante Parker or Kevin White) or going with an offenisve lineman. Here, they get the better value in La'el Collins. I think he's a true tackle who showed excellent agility at the Combine. Remember, he really struggled at the Senior Bowl inside at guard.

RND 1
12
Cleveland Browns

Height: 6'2
Weight:339
Hometown: Auburn, Wa
College: Washington
Class: 2014 SR
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 8
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Mike Pettine
2014 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: What do the Browns do? They need a quarterback. Cleveland needs weapons at wide receiver and could use a right tackle. They also need an anchor in the middle of the defense. None are better in this draft than Danny Shelton. He's the call, as the Browns are building a championship defense.

RND 1
13
New Orleans Saints

Player: Alvin Dupree
Height: 6'4
Weight:269
Hometown: Irwinton, Ga.
College: Kentucky
Class: 2014 SR
Position: TE
Rating:
Overall Rank:
Pos Rank:

Head Coach: Sean Payton
2014 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: The Saints could go in a number of directions but with their need of pass rushers and Bud Dupree still on the board they have to gett this athletic edge guy from Lexington. Dupree put up stupid numbers at the Combine showing that he has some serious upside as an outside linebacker/defensive end in the NFL.

RND 1
14
Miami Dolphins

Player: Andrus Peat
Height: 6'7
Weight:313
Hometown: Chandler, Az.
College: Stanford
Class: 2014 JR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 29
Pos Rank: 4

Head Coach: Joe Philbin
2014 Record: 8-8

ANALYSIS: The Dolphins could land a very good receiver here or go get some help on the offensive front. I think they go the latter route, especially with Andrus Peat on the board. Miami will be set at right tackle for years to come.

RND 1
15
San Francisco 49ers

Player: Kevin White
Height: 6'3
Weight:215
Hometown: Plainfield, N.J.
College: West Virginia
Class: 2014 SR
Position: WR
Rating:
Overall Rank: 14
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Jim Tomsula
2014 Record: 8-8

ANALYSIS: Really, Kevin White falls to this spot? Come draft night probably not. It all depends on the made rush or pass rushers and pass protectors. Every year there's a run and good players slide but there's more of a premium for the guys in the trenches. White has good size, ran 4.35 at the combine and had great production at West Virginia.

RND 1
16
Houston Texans

Height: 6'0
Weight:228
Hometown: Geismar, La.
College: Alabama
Class: 2014 JR
Position: S
Rating:
Overall Rank: 24
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Bill O'Brien
2014 Record: 9-7

ANALYSIS: I could see the Texans going running back or even the offensive front here. Then again, safety Landon Collins in still on the board. He reminds me a lot of Matt Elam and a guy that makes a ton of plays near the line of scrimmage. He's coverage skills are improving.

RND 1
17
San Diego Chargers

Height: 6'1
Weight:215
Hometown: Kenosha, Wis.
College: Wisconsin
Class: 2014 JR
Position: RB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 15
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Mike McCoy
2014 Record: 9-7

ANALYSIS: I am sticking with the Chargers and Melvin Gordon here. Can you imagine what this Wisconsin running back could do for Phillip Rivers and the San Diego offense?

RND 1
18
Kansas City Chiefs

Height: 6'3
Weight:209
Hometown: Louisville, Ky.
College: Louisville
Class: 2014 JR
Position: WR
Rating:
Overall Rank: 5
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: Andy Reid
2014 Record: 9-7

ANALYSIS: Lets see, the Chiefs didn't throw a single touchdown pass to a wide receiver for the entire 2014 season. Doesn't Kansas City have to select a wide receiver here?

RND 1
19
Cleveland Browns

Height: 6'5
Weight:309
Hometown: Teaneck, N.J.
College: Pitt
Class: 2014 SR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 37
Pos Rank: 5

Head Coach: Mike Pettine
2014 Record: 7-9

ANALYSIS: Browns fans will be angry with this pick because last I checked T.J. Clemmings couldn't exactly run the go route. Instead, he's a right tackle that could really develop into something special down the line. Clemming's is too good to pass up and Cleveland can address wide recevier on the second day.

RND 1
20
Philadelphia Eagles

Height: 6'0
Weight:228
Hometown: Sacramento, Calif.
College: Washington
Class: 2014 JR
Position: OLB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 39
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Chip Kelly
2014 Record: 10-6

ANALYSIS: Thompson had a lackluster NFL Combine. Still, he's one of the top athletes in this draft and he could really give the Eagles defense a huge boost at linebacker and or safety. Trust me, Chip Kelly knows all about this former Huskie.

RND 1
21
Cincinnati Bengals

Height: 6'3
Weight:267
Hometown: Portland, Ore.
College: UCLA
Class: 2014 SR
Position: DE
Rating:
Overall Rank: 38
Pos Rank: 5

Head Coach: Marvin Lewis
2014 Record: 10-5-1

ANALYSIS: Odighizuwa is one of the quickest off the ball in this draft and boy can he get up the field in a hurry. He will have a chance to be a good pass rusher in the NFL for a long time. This is something that was missing from the Bengals defense last season.

RND 1
22
Pittsburgh Steelers

Height: 6'2
Weight:319
Hometown: Brenham, Texas
College: Texas
Class: 2014 JR
Position: RB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 193
Pos Rank: 17

Head Coach: Mike Tomlin
2014 Record: 11-5

ANALYSIS: Brown would be a nice anchor with some athleticism in the middle of the Steelers defense.

RND 1
23
Detroit Lions

Height: 6'4
Weight:336
Hometown: Washington, D.C.
College: Florida State
Class: 2014 JR
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 51
Pos Rank: 6

Head Coach: Jim Caldwell
2014 Record: 11-5

ANALYSIS: I believe I have mocked a defensive tackle each time to Detroit and this one is no different. With Brown gone just ahead Goldman is the next d-tackle up.

RND 1
24
Arizona Cardinals

Height: 6'4
Weight:246
Hometown: Tunica, Miss.
Class: 2014 JR
Position: MLB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 75
Pos Rank: 4

Head Coach: Bruce Arians
2014 Record: 11-5

ANALYSIS: Arizona is looking for help in the middle of their defense and there is none better in this draft than this middle linebacker from Mississippi State.

RND 1
25
Carolina Panthers

Height: 6'6
Weight:329
Hometown: Miami, Fla.
College: Miami
Class: 2014 JR
Position: OT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 23
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Ron Rivera
2014 Record: 7-8-1

ANALYSIS: Carolina is still looking for offensive line help and Flowers from Miami is still on the board. He's the pick here to help protect their franchise signal caller in Cam Newton.

RND 1
26
Baltimore Ravens

Height: 6'0
Weight:197
Hometown: Oakland, Calif.
College: Washington
Class: 2014 JR
Position: CB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 9
Pos Rank: 2

Head Coach: John Harbaugh
2014 Record: 10-6

ANALYSIS: The Ravens get some secondary help from a terrific cornerback in Marcus Peters. He has some issues away from the game and you can bet that Baltimore and Ozzie Newsome will do their homework.

RND 1
27
Dallas Cowboys

Height: 6'6
Weight:237
Hometown: St. Louis, Mo.
College: Oklahoma
Class: 2014 JR
Position: WR
Rating:
Overall Rank: 20
Pos Rank: 4

Head Coach: Jason Garrett
2014 Record: 12-4

ANALYSIS: Dallas could look for a pass rusher or defensive tackle. But there has been a run at both positions. Instead, Jerry Jones shocks the world again and lands the talented but troubled wide receiver from Missouri/Oklahoma in Dorial Green-Beckham.

RND 1
28
Denver Broncos

Height: 6'5
Weight:313
Hometown: Moultrie, Ga.
College: Florida State
Class: 2014 SR
Position: C
Rating:
Overall Rank: 31
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Gary Kubiak
2014 Record: 12-4

ANALYSIS: I almost put Jaelen Strong here but can Denver really pass on a guy that can play all five positions on the offensive front? Cam Erving is going to be a very good player for a very long time in the NFL.

RND 1
29
Indianapolis Colts

Height: 6'7
Weight:292
Hometown: Sacramento, Calif.
College: Oregon
Class: 2014 JR
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 17
Pos Rank: 3

Head Coach: Chuck Pagano
2014 Record: 11-5

ANALYSIS: Indy needs a pass rusher. There has been a serious run with these guys up to this point but the gigantic defensive end from Oregon, Arik Armstead is still on the board. He's a nice fit into this defense.

RND 1
30
Green Bay Packers

Height: 6'5
Weight:329
Hometown: Towanda, Ka.
College: Oklahoma
Class: 2014 SO
Position: DT
Rating:
Overall Rank: 77
Pos Rank: 9

Head Coach: Mike McCarthy
2014 Record: 12-4

ANALYSIS: For a big man north of 300-pounds Phillips is deceptively athletic. He's young and has a bright future in front of him. Phillips will have a chance to be a very good player in this defense.

RND 1
31
Seattle Seahawks

Player: Todd Gurley
Height: 6'1
Weight:222
Hometown: Tarboro, N.C.
College: Georgia
Class: 2014 JR
Position: RB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 12
Pos Rank: 1

Head Coach: Pete Carroll
2014 Record: 12-4

ANALYSIS: Could you imagine a healthy Todd Gurley in Seattle? It would be Beast Mode, the sequel… better than the Empire Strikes Back.

RND 1
32
New England Patriots

Height: 6'1
Weight:203
Hometown: Olive Branch, Miss.
College: LSU
Class: 2014 JR
Position: CB
Rating:
Overall Rank: 64
Pos Rank: 8

Head Coach: Bill Belichick
2014 Record: 12-4

ANALYSIS: New England gets a rising cornerback in Jalen Collins. He comes from a quality program like LSU but doesn't have much starting experience. He has excellent size and measurables.
