Drew Brees, Antonio Brown, Adrian Peterson predicted leaders

With preseason games in full swing this weekend, starting Thursday night, Las Vegas is setting the odds for the yardage leaders in different categories for the 2016 season.

There isn’t much change from how the 2015 season ended.

Drew Brees, who led the NFL with 4,870 yards passing last year, is the favorite to lead the league in that category again this year. He is given 5/1 odds to repeat, with Ben Roethlisberger (6/1) and Philip Rivers (15/2) not far behind.

Adrian Peterson led the league in rushing yards last year and he is favored to do the same this year, given 3/1 odds by Bovada.lv. Todd Gurley is the only other running back given better than 10/1 odds to win the rushing title and he was at 5/1. In third place is Doug Martin at 10/1.

Receiving yards is the only one of the three top offensive categories where the leader from last year isn’t favored to be the leader in 2016. Julio Jones led the NFL with 1,871 yards in 2015, but he is runner-up in the predictions for 2016, given 3/1 odds to repeat. Antonio Brown, who was only 37 yards behind Jones last year, is the favorite for 2016 at 2/1 odds. Odell Beckham Jr. is the only other receiver with better than 10/1 odds (he was given 15/2) to lead the NFL.
