News and notes surrounding the New England Patriots.

--C Damien Woody, who was a game time decision at Philadelphia after being downgraded from probable to questionable late in the week, sat out the game with a chest injury and was replaced by rookie Dan Koppen.
   --C Dan Koppen, a rookie fifth round pick out of Boston College, received his first NFL start in place of injured Damien Woody.
   --S Antwan Harris lost the starting job he took in Lawyer Milloy's absence after one week. He made several mistakes against the Bills and played predominantly on special teams in Philadelphia.
   --CB Eugene Wilson, a rookie second round pick from Illinois, replaced Antwan Harris as the starting free safety, but had the wind knocked out of him with 1:06 left in the first quarter while making the tackle on a kickoff. He returned in the second half.
   --S Je'Rod Cherry was added to the injury report late in the week when his leg tightened up on him and he was inactive for the game.
   --S Aric Morris was inactive in Week One, but took Cherry's game day roster spot and played on every special team. He also replaced Wilson at free safety when the rookie went down injured in the first quarter.
   --LB Roman Phifer started for Ted Johnson at inside linebacker, but played the weak side with Tedy Bruschi sliding from the weak side to the strong side.
   --G Russ Hochstein was activated from the practice squad to the active roster for the game. With Woody out and Koppen starting at center, the Patriots had no backup guard on the roster, which made the move necessary. Hochstein was not only moved to the 53-man roster, but was part of the 45-man game day roster.
   --WR David Givens was inactive with a leg injury.
   --LB Rosevelt Colvin left the game with 9:17 left in the first half with a left leg injury and did not return. He left the locker room on crutches after the game. Willie McGinest replaced him.
   --LB Willie McGinest replaced an injured Rosevelt Colvin with 9:17 left in the first half and finished the game with a team-high two sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
   --WR Troy Brown limped off grabbing his right hamstring after racing upfield and lunging to catch a short punt. He sat out one offensive series before returning.
