*RB Lamar Gordon was listed as the starting fullback, although he wasn't used that much as a blocker. However, Gordon got some quality time at halfback in the second quarter when Marshall Faulk was sidelined by an eye injury.
*RB Marshall Faulk missed time in the second quarter
with a contusion over his eye. On a 26-yard run that opened the second half,
when being tackled, Faulk's helmet came down and hit above his
*DT Brian Young started against the 49ers because Ryan Pickett isn't totally recivered from a high ankle sprain.
Ryan Pickett didn't start, but did play as he works to recover from a high ankle
sprain suffered in an Aug. 18 preseason game against Tampa Bay.
*TE Brandon Manumaleuna hasn't produced as the replacement for the departed
Ernie Conwell. Manumaleuna had two key drops on pass plays, and struggled with
*WR Dane Looker had the first two receptions of
his career in the season opener, then scored his first touchdown -- a 19 yarder
-- against the 49ers. Looker caught four other passes for a modest 28 yards, but
four of his five receptions were good for first downs.
