Titans Notes

News and notes surrounding the Tennessee Titans.

--RB Eddie George looked more effective as he turned 15 carries into 46 yards, but with the Titans trailing his role was minimized as they tried to throw to catch up.
--QB Steve McNair was roughed up as the Colts sacked him three times. He dislocated the ring finger on his throwing hand in a collision with Chad Bratzke and missed some time, but returned after the finger was taped up and he showed he could grip the ball. The Titans expect the finger to be swollen and sore as the team begins preparations for New Orleans.
--QB Billy Volek saw his first NFL action filling in for Steve McNair briefly after the starter dislocated the ring finger on his throwing hand. Volek was sacked twice and threw an interception that was returned for a 75 yard TD by Nick Harper.
--RG Benji Olson sprained his left knee and tests could reveal further damage. Tom Ackerman replaced him.
--RG Tom Ackerman filled in for Benji Olson after Olson injured his left knee. He could be out sometime which could mean Ackerman becomes a permanent part of the lineup.
--DT Albert Haynesworth is out "indefinitely" according to Titans Coach Jeff Fisher. Haynesworth suffered a dislocated left elbow in the Titans' loss to Indianapolis. James Atkins and Rien Long will see more time in his absence.
--WR Justin McCareins was on the field often as the No. 2 wideout in Indianapolis, ahead of Drew Bennett. McCareins had two catches for 19 yards and three punt returns for 18 more.
--WR Drew Bennett seemed to slip behind Justin McCareins as the second receiver for the Colts game. Bennett does not have a catch yet this season, and has a ball go through his hands in Indy.
--TE Shad Meier is making good on his opportunity with Frank Wycheck (concussion) out of action. Meier caught two balls for 29 yards, including a team-best 27-yard reception.
--WR Tyrone Calico is playing as part of four receiver sets and the Titans are clearly not afraid to put him in and go to him when they are in scoring range. His 7-yard catch was the Titans only score of the game. His second catch of the season was also his second touchdown.
--K Gary Anderson only got a chance to hit on PAT in his first game with the Titans since being signed to replace Joe Nedney (torn ACL) for the season.
