The Day After; Minnesota

News and notes on the Minnesota Vikings.

-- SS Corey Chavous played against the Bears with a sprained right knee. He made it through the game without aggravating the injury.
-- FS Jack Brewer, the Vikings' best special teams player, suffered a chest injury in the final preseason game and is expected to miss at least one more game. "Jack Brewer continues to improve, although I don't expect him to practice this week," coach Mike Tice said.
-- WR D'Wayne Bates bruised his foot against the Bears, but probably will play against the Lions.
-- RB Doug Chapman missed the Bears game because of a high ankle sprain. He should be able to play this week.
-- FS Brian Russell will be moved from a contain role on kickoff coverage to a playmaker's role inside. Until Jack Brewer returns, the Vikings need somebody to make a tackle on kickoffs.
