FS Jack Brewer, the Vikings' best special teams player, suffered a chest injury
in the final preseason game and is expected to miss at least one more game.
"Jack Brewer continues to improve, although I don't expect him to practice this
week," coach Mike Tice said.
-- WR D'Wayne Bates bruised his
foot against the Bears, but probably will play against the
-- RB Doug Chapman missed the Bears game because of a
high ankle sprain. He should be able to play this week.
Brian Russell will be moved from a contain role on kickoff coverage to a
playmaker's role inside. Until Jack Brewer returns, the Vikings need somebody to
make a tackle on kickoffs.
