The Day After; Houston

News and notes on the Houston Texans.

-- NT Seth Payne will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn ACL in his left knee in the Texans' 31-10 loss to New Orleans.
-- K Kris Brown will not practice when the Texans return to workouts Wednesday due to a strained groin.
-- LG Milford Brown will not practice Wednesday due to a sprained posterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
--The Texans signed DT Steve Martin on Monday to bolster a line besieged by injuries to NT Seth Payne and DE Gary Walker.
-- The Texans have been impressed with the recovery of RB Tony Hollings from ACL surgery less than a year ago. Hollings had a team-high 41 carries during the preseason but has yet to touch the ball in two regular season games.
-- With Seth Payne (knee) and Gary Walker (shoulder) out with injuries, DE Jerry DeLoach is the senior member of the defensive line with 22 career starts.
-- After not allowing a sack in the season opener, the Texans resorted to old ways as quarterback David Carr collapsed under a ton of pressure and was sacked five times against the Saints. "At times it felt like last year with our line having trouble handling the pressure," Carr said. "If we continue to play like the last nine minutes of this game, our season will basically go down the toilet, I hate to say."
