--RB Priest Holmes fought through a world of pain to rush for a 31-yard fourth quarter touchdown -- the biggest chunk of his 122 rushing yards in the 41-20 win over Pittsburgh. Holmes injured his ribs/back vaulting into the end zone for the first of his three scores, a 3-yard touchdown dive that cut into a 17-7 Pittsburgh lead. Doctors taped his ribs and back, but Holmes continued to play well through the distress. "I've got to learn to land on my feet when I do that," a smiling Holmes said upon finally talking to the press Monday.

the 2001 season - the 10th missed PAT of Andersen's 22-year
--LB Kawika Mitchell, the Chiefs' second-round draft
pick, may miss Sunday's game in Houston after injuring a hamstring in the win
over Pittsburgh. Mitchell has moved into the backup Mike linebacker spot behind
starter Mike Maslowski. Monty Beisel now will be the backup.
--CB William Bartee, who missed the season's first two games with a sprained
ankle, appears more likely to play at Houston this week. Dexter McCleon has done
a solid job at right corner in Bartee's absence, but coach Dick Vermeil says he

--DE Eddie Freeman, a second-year player who's been
down since dislocating his elbow early in training camp, will be a candidate to
play for the first time this week against Houston. Whether he can make the
game-day active list remains to be seen.
--FS Jerome Woods again
played the nickel corner (for a second straight week) Sunday. He plays the
position well, but the Chiefs would prefer to keep him in centerfield, as
opposed to limiting him to covering one receiver, because of his ability to roam
QUOTE TO NOTE -- "We want to be known as playmakers.
It's unlike last year when we didn't get too many turnovers and a lot of guys
got a sour taste. But this year guys want to prove we're a different team, and I
think we showed that today." -- Safety Jerome Woods, who returned an
interception for a second-quarter touchdown and forced and recovered a fumble in
the fourth quarter of the Chiefs' 41-20 win over Pittsburgh.
