Dolphins Mid-Week Wrap

Practice notes and team news heading into week three of the 2003 NFL season.

--The Dolphins have taken the unusual step of rotating centers, with starter Tim Ruddy splitting playing time with backup Seth McKinney against the Jets. Ruddy appeared in 38 snaps, while McKinney played for 29 after initially entering on the game's third series.
While Ruddy is suffering from a sore knee, the use of McKinney is seemingly a way to ease him into the starting lineup. Ruddy, though, will start against Buffalo.
--Jamar Fletcher was replaced by Arturo Freeman as Miami's dime cornerback against the Jets. Fletcher was beaten on two passes and committed a 15-yard face mask penalty in the season-opener against Houston.
With free safety Brock Marion (quadriceps) out of Wednesday's practice, Fletcher and Freeman both received work in Miami's dime package. Wannstedt wouldn't say whether Fletcher or Freeman would serve as dime cornerback against Buffalo.
--S Brock Marion was held out of Wednesday's practice because of a bruised quadriceps suffered in last Sunday's 21-10 victory over the New York Jets. Dolphins coach Dave Wannstedt said Marion would practice Thursday and start at free safety in Sunday's game against Buffalo.
--S Shawn Wooden (hamstring) practiced Wednesday for the first time since getting injured September 7 against Houston and will play in Sunday's game against Buffalo. Wooden will see action on special teams and possibly the team's dime defensive package.
--DE Jason Taylor (ankle) is listed on Miami's injury report but he will start Sunday against Buffalo.
--LB Zach Thomas (ribs) is listed on Miami's injury report but he will start Sunday against Buffalo.
--QB Brian Griese (toe) won't dress against Buffalo but the Dolphins are optimistic that he could be in uniform as early as an October 5 game against the New York Giants. Griese, who is no longer wearing a protective boot, threw during warm-ups before the Jets game and on the sideline during Wednesday's practice.

--FB Rob Konrad played without a cast on his surgically repaired right pinkie for the first time against the Jets. Konrad caught two passes for 17 yards and did a solid job blocking.
