Titans Post Game Notes

News and notes from week-three of the NFL season.

--QB Steve McNair had an excellent game with two TD passes despite a sore ring finger on his throwing hand and a left knee that still appears to bother him. His 252 yards put him over 20,000 in his career. So he became the youngest QB ever to surpass 20,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards, joining a club with only four other members - Fran Tarkenton, Randall Cunningham, John Elway and Steve Young.
--RB Eddie George carried 29 yards for 100 yards, averaging 3.4 yards a carry and bulling his way into the end zone for a score. Still, a good share of the yards came late against a battered and thinned out Saints defense and people are anxious to see Chris Brown, who dressed but did not play.
--WR Drew Bennett had been virtually invisible through two games, but showed up big against the Saints with a career-best eight catches for 105 yards and a touchdown.
--WR Justin McCareins continues to earn chances. His 2-yard catch was the first TD of the Titans' win over the Saints.
--TE Shad Meier continues to play well in increased chances that are a result of Frank Wycheck being out with post-concussion symptoms. Meier averaged 13.3 yards on five catches and has clearly gained Steve McNair's confidence.
--RG Benji Olson surprised just about everybody by playing against the Saints. He didn't practice all week but wore a knee brace in a pregame workout and looked solid. He missed only one series just before the half.
--DE Kevin Carter celebrated his 30th birthday with a sack of Aaron Brooks.
--FS Lance Schulters left the game briefly with a shoulder problem. But he returned quickly and it's something he deals with often.
--LB Rocky Boiman who plays only in some four LB packages and on special teams left the game for a time with a shoulder problem but returned.
