Cardinals Monday Madness

Cardinals team news and notes.

-- RG Chris Dishman, starting in place of injured Leonard Davis, had the come-through performance of the day for the offense. Dishman, who has been inconsistent for four years, was rock steady in his blocking and was a factor in QB Jeff Blake not being sacked by the Packers.
-- RG Leonard Davis (ankle) will have further examinations this week. It won't be known until at least Wednesday, and likely not until later, what his status will be for Sunday's visit to St. Louis.
-- LG Cameron Spikes quietly has done a solid job starting in Pete Kendall's old spot - Kendall now is the starting C. Frank Garcia, was to have been the LG, but Garcia is serving a four-game suspension for an Ephedra violation.
-- WR Bryant Johnson finally is showing why he was a first-round pick (17th overall). Johnson acknowledged that after two lackluster opening games he was spurred on by fellow rookie WR Anquan Boldin, a second-round pick, who made an immediate splash.
-- WR Anquan Boldin continues his amazing debut in the league with receiving numbers and yardage that are among the best ever through three games by a rookie. He clearly has overcome a knee injury in college that raised doubts regarding whether he ever would regain the speed and dexterity he once had.
-- DT Barron Tanner, a backup, forced the team's first defensive turnover when he smashed into Packers RB Ahman Green in the first quarter, causing a fumble. Tanner for three years has been steady if not spectacular, a reliable workhorse inside.
-- FS Dexter Jackson got the team's first interception of the season at a timely juncture when he picked Brett Favre in the end zone as time expired on a third-and-seven pass with the Packers trailing by 7 points and threatening. Jackson spent most of the afternoon jawing with his old adversary from Jackson's days with Tampa Bay.
