Jets Monday Madness

Jets team news and notes.

--DE John Abraham missed parts of the second half with a sore hamstring and is listed as questionable for the game against the Cowboys. Since Abraham is a speed rusher and hamstrings are tricky injuries that last a while, there is a good chance Abraham won't play or at least be limited this Sunday. If Abraham doesn't play or plays less, second-year DE Bryan Thomas will play more.
--WR Curtis Conway may still be adjusting to the ball thrown by QB Vinny Testaverde. He dropped three passes Sunday, including a 12-yarder that would have been good for a touchdown in the third quarter. Conway still led the Jets with five receptions for 70 yards.
--QB Chad Pennington did not play Sunday and is expected to miss at least another six weeks with a fractured and dislocated left wrist. Pennington is shooting for a return by the Nov. 9 game at Oakland but realistically, his recovery will take at least a few weeks longer than that.
--CB Donnie Abraham did not play because of a fractured right shoulder and is expected to miss at least seven more weeks.
--DE Bryan Thomas played much of the second half because of John Abraham's sore hamstring and got his first career sack. Thomas, last year's first-round pick, has been a disappointment thus far.
--LB Marvin Jones missed parts of the second and third quarters because of dehydration but will return to practice this week.
--WR Wayne Chrebet remained in the receiver rotation but played primarily on third downs because of a sore knee that kept him out of practice most of last week. He should return to practice and will play Sunday.
--K Doug Brien had hit six consecutive field goals before missing a 42-yarder in the fourth quarter that would have cut the Patriot's lead to just four points.
--DT Chester McGlockton got his first sack of the season and played well once again. His playing time should increase in the rotation of tackles. It's a tough situation because the Jets want to play rookie Dewayne Robertson as much as possible - he also played well after a slow start in the first two games. Do the Jets play the veteran over the younger player in a losing season?
