Full Name: David Baas School: Michigan
Ht: 6-4 Wt: 310 40: 5.35 Number: 75
2002: All-Big Ten first team after starting all 13 contests at left guard.
2001: Played in six games and started one contest.
The Good: Big, dominant blocker very much in the Michigan mold. Starts with a wide base, quick setting in pass protection and immediately gets into run blocks. Gets his hands up, jolts opponents with good punch then drives them off the line run blocking. Excellent pop at the point and finishes blocks. Great natural strength and size. Nasty and looks for someone to hit. Displays surprising abilities blocking on the move.
The Bad: Bends at the waist and overextends. Not really light on his feet.
The Skinny: There is not much to dislike about the overall game of Baas as he is effective in every aspect of the position. More to the point, he's Michigan's best guard prospect since Steve Hutchinson.
