In the Bucs vs. Rams contest in 2001, the Bucs defensive effort may have been even better, and defensive tackle Warren Sapp was leading the charge getting involved in two of the Bucs' five turnovers. For his efforts, Sapp is this week's BucMag.com Bucs MVP.
Sapp returned to his dominating ways against the Rams, fought through back spasms in the second half and recorded two sacks, forced a key fumble when he stripped St. Louis quarterback Kurt Warner of the ball. Sapp also recovered a fumble and had a crushing body slam of Rams running back Marshall Faulk in the second half.
Sapp's inspired play set the tone on defense early. His teammates were feeding off of his big plays and big hits, making big hits of their own and coming up with big turnovers in Tampa Bay's 24-17 victory.
