Scouting the ACC: Duke

It's been a very tough decade for the Duke Blue Devils on the football field. Victories have been few as have the pro-prospects offered to the NFL. A bit of life was shown late last season after a change was made at the head coaching position and Duke hopes to keep the momentum going. Unfortunately for draft fans, this is not a program NFL scouts will be keeping close tabs on this season.

Offensively the top prospects are tight end.  Junior Andy Roland is a solid pass catcher that also gives effort in the blocking department.  He lacks the top size and only occasionally makes plays into the defensive secondary as a receiver.  Sophomore Ben Patrick has displayed flashes of skill and now moves into the starting rotation.  Only a second year collegian, keep an eye on him.

Duke has a pair of large defensive tackles to chart.  Senior Orrin Thompson has tremendous size and solid run stuffing skills while junior Demetrius Warrick is a good athlete expected to have a breakout season.
