Peach Bowl, 12/31: North Carolina– Auburn
A late season surge put North Carolina in this position and a collapse at the end of the year prevented Auburn from playing a day later. The Tar Heels have talent on the defensive side of the ball while Auburn's best prospect lay on the other side of the line of scrimmage.
The best match-up is UNC's Julius Peppers against the Tigers Kendall Simmons. Peppers, who told us in a conversation this past November he was "85% sure he's entering the draft," will contend for the first choice next April while the highly ranked Simmons could make it into the first day. Another on the rise is Tar Heel tackle Ryan Sims.
Auburn's receivers will test a talented North Carolina defensive backfield, keep an eye on Quincy Monk, a solid inside linebacker that projects to the outside at the next level and especially DeMarco McNeil, a player we draw comparisons to Gerard Warren at this point.
North Carolina: Bosley Allen/WR, Korey Bailey/WR, Ronald Curry/QB, Joey Evans/DE, Billy Greenwood/S, Errol Hood/CB, Quincy Monk/OLB, Julius Peppers/DE, Merceda Perry/ILB, Ryan Sims/DT
