Scouting Report: Anttaj Hawthorne

A big dominant defender in the middle of the line stuffs the run or can rush the passer, Wisconsin's Anttaj Hawthorne plays a priority position and will be highly coveted in next April's NFL Draft.

Full Name:  Anttaj Hawthorne  School:  Wisconsin

Ht:  6-2.5  Wt:  310  40:  5.16

The Good: Explosive interior lineman who dominates the game when focused on the task at hand.  Quick off the snap, plays with forward lean and gets leverage on opponents.  Powerful lower body and bulrushes opponents off the line.  Doubled yet wedges between blocks and gets up the field.  Possesses a burst of closing speed and displays good awareness.  Quickly changes direction, rarely off his feet and works to stay away from blocks.

The Bad: At times easily removed from his angle of attack.  Must improve his balance and body control.

The Skinny: A forceful defender which opposing coaches game-plan around, Hawthorne clogs the middle and opens up opportunities for teammates.  Lacks the nonstop motor and not as productive as he should be but effectively plays a priority position and will be a high pick next April.
