Scouting Report: Marlin Jackson

Impacting the Michigan program the minute he stepped on campus, Marlin Jackson was trumpeted as having Charles Woodson-type talent by NFL-people early in his college career. And though that prediction may not come to fruition, the talented senior still has a bright professional future.

Scouting Report: Marlin Jackson  School:  Michigan

Ht:  6-0  Wt:  200  40:  4.45

The Good: Versatile defensive back with outstanding physical skills.  Fluid hips, loses nothing  transitioning to run with opponents and not afraid to mix it up.  Easily stays with receivers laterally or follows them out from breaks.  Good hands for the pick.  Solid job reading or diagnosing the action and takes good angles to the play.  Possesses an outstanding burst of closing and recovery speed.  Solid job taking on blocks to help defend the run or screens.  Jams opponents at the line

The Bad: Does more hitting or knocking down rather then wrapping up and tackling the ball carrier.  Over pursues the action, taking himself out of the play.  Well documented off the field incidents which have caused suspension in the past.

The Skinny:Tremendously gifted, Jackson has been productive as both a safety and cornerback at Michigan.  Possesses the size and skill to be a press cover corner and a first round choice that can produce in the NFL if he keeps his focus his on the task at hand.
