Prospect Profile: Eric Mahl

Eric Mahl School: Kent State
Ht: 6-1 Wt: 244 40: 4.70 Year: 4Sr

Bio:Second-team All-Conference selection who posted 96/7.5/2 as a senior, adding a pair of interceptions. Started the previous two seasons, totaling a career-high 126 tackles as a junior.

Positives: Productive, hard-working battler consistently around the ball. Diagnoses the action, takes good angles to the play and displays a burst of speed in a straight line. Keeps the action in front of him and plays under control.

Negatives: Average skills in pass coverage and slow reacting when the ball's in the air. Slowed up in the wash moving laterally. Initially makes his move up the field and gets caught out of position against the pass.

Analysis: A hard-working linebacker with solid size/speed numbers, Mahl may be best on the inside in a system that allows him to freely flow to the action. Must significantly improve his skills in pass defense to have any chance at the next level.
